A true GIANT on and off the court, Shaquille O’Neal has finally decided to retire after a career ending injury and 17 seasons in the NBA. I wish it wasn’t time for the big homie to go, but his unhealed MCL has kept him sidelined and his last game played, he barely made it up and down the court. Shaq announced his retirement on YouTube w/ a short 16 sec video but has full media coverage videos all over. Here is the video on YouTube and links to media coverage.
Short Facts: Four rings, 28,596 career points. In 1999-2000, his lone MVP season, Shaq averaged 29.7 points, 13.6 rebounds, almost 4 assists and 3 blocks. He was named MVP of the NBA Finals three times. He was an All-Star 15 times. He made All-NBA first-team eight times.
You will be missed Shaq.
