NBA Finals Recap for Game 5 & 6!
The Mavericks pull out another one in this 112-103 win against the Heat, taking the series lead, 3-2. The Mavs went on a 17-4 run at the end of the 4th to seal Miami’s fate. Jason Terry came off the bench to score 21, 8 of which came in that 17-4 run. D. Wade came out guns blazing, even w/ a hip injury to score 23 pts. Bosh added 19 pts, 10 rebs. Lebron got a triple double, 17 pts, 10 asts and 10 rebs but only scored 2 in the 4th. Miami dropped this one in the 4th, letting Terry get a wide open 3 and Nowitzki’s finals signature, last min layup. Nowitzki ended the game w/ 29 pts, 6 rebs and 3 asts. J. J. Barea had another strong game w/ 17 pts, 2 rebs and 5 asts. 5 players from both sides of the court had double-digit scores in the highest scoring game of the series.
Game 6: The Miami Heat lose 3 straight and Game 6 goes to Mark Cuban, Rick Carlisle and THE DALLAS MAVERICKS. The finally earn the Larry O’Brien trophy w/ their spectacular 105-95 win over the Miami Heat. Their first championship ring in franchise history! They would not be denied like in the 2006 Finals series against the Heat. Vets Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki, who has had the Finals championship elude them constantly over their career, finally get the championship ring. Again, Dirk seals the deal w/ that lefty layup, but the story of the game, Jason Terry. He came off the bench red-hot! Dirk had a bad shooting game, only going 1 for 12 in the first half but picked it up in the second, but only shot 9 for 27 from the field. Terry went on a rampage from the beginning tip-off. At the end, 27 pts, 11 for 26 from the field. J.J. Barea and Shawn Marion had 27 pts, 11 rebs and 6 asts.
The Heat put up some big numbers, but their turnovers and a lot of missed free throws sealed the game. A lot of players jumping in the air, trying to make a play caused more than half of these turnovers. Dwayne Wade finished w/ 17 pts, 8 rebs, 6 asts and 2 blks. Lebron had 21 pts, shooting way better than he has all series, 4 rebs and 6 asts. Mario Chalmers also was big for the Heat, scoring 18 pts w/ 3 rebs and 7 asts. Bosh and Haslem had a combined 30 pts and 17 rebs.
Dirk Nowitzki takes home the Bill Russell Finals MVP trophy. He had the BIGGEST impact in the post season for the Mavericks. Definitely deserving of this award.
