From a Dollar and a Dream to Cole World (Updated)

Jigga wouldn’t even take my CD when he seen me
Two years later bitch we made it on, on to the Blueprint
Now how’s that for persistence – J. Cole “God’s Gift”

Right now, J. Cole is a man among boys in my view. Out of all the new comers that have come along over the past few years, J. Cole is top gun. I haven’t heard anyone as lyrically sound as J. Cole in a long time. Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of good artists that are in the same draft class as Cole, but his album “Cole World – The Sideline Story” is a lyrical tirade of engaging beats and metaphorical bars of nonstop hip hop.

His album tells of his struggles over the years, dealing with everything from his mom’s addiction to his father’s infidelity and beyond. I would definitely recommend it to anyone willing to listen. His humbleness and modesty is something to envy. Everything I have seen and read thus far show that he not only knows what his capabilities and celebrity status is, but he knows how to handle it. He’s talked of how much pressure he was under and how he’s overcome it and how it feels to be the prodigal son on JAY Z.

If you come across something J. Cole, read it, listen to it, admire it. He is not to be reckoned with at this point. One man army on a mission.

(Update)

So I failed to add when I did this, that the album did 217k in the 1st week of it’s release in October and hit #1 on Billboard. Just a great friggin’ asset to your music collection, REAL TALK.Oh and the fact that he got my favorite female rap artist because of her non-conformity, Missy Elliott on board made me a bigger fan than I anticipated. I’m already waiting for the new album.

Favorites off the album:
2. Dollar and a Dream III
6. Sideline Story
10. Lost Ones
11. Nobody’s Perfect
12. Never Told
14. God’s Gift
15. Breakdown
