Young Woman. New Age of Hip Hop. Serious Grind. All these things give you an idea of what this young hip hop artist is all about. Long awaited by her, myself and our collective fans/readers… here is Tell Your Story w/ Skittles.
What’s the background of Skittles, the artist? Any catchphrases, slogans, mottos?
The background of Skittles, hmm… well I was born in Brooklyn, New York. I loved where I grew up (Bedford Stuyvesant and Crown Heights). I’ve seen a lot of things in my day and being able to live in Brooklyn made me very open minded about a bunch of things including style, music and life itself. My catchphrases would be “Alright then” “WHAT?” and “S-K-I double” lol. My slogan would be “Take what you have and make it your own.” I live by that.
What kind of music do you listen to?
I listen to all kinds of music. Hip hop, techno, dubb step, grime, R&B. I like experimenting with most genres as well.
Do you listen to your own music?
What kind of question, you better stop! Lol, yes I listen to myself every single day. I smile when I hear growth in each of my songs. I can hear the confidence spilling out as I get better.
Of all the tracks you made, what’s your favorite?
My favorite track, hmmm that’s hard, but I’m going to go with my fan favorite called “Super Villain”. It’s about me being a super hero because I’m trying to save hip hop, but a villain because I’m destroying any beat that I’m on. I like it a lot to say the least.
Tell me about this recent grind you’ve been on w/ the music and videos coming left and right.
My recent grind, I’ve been working on my second mixtape, “Skitzotonic: The Introduction of Skitzo”. It’s way different [from] my first. It’s about my alter ego “Skitzo” stepping into the scene. She’s a lil more blunt and crazy then the normal “Skittles”. It talks about how she came out and now she’s here to stay. Skittles doesn’t like her too much lol.
You know I have to throw this in there, what do you think of R.E.A.L. Muzic?
Come on! I love R.E.A.L. Muzic! We’ve had each others support from day one. Those are some cool dudes man and I respect the grind and everything they are trying to do. 🙂
What’s the message you want people to get out of your music?
The message I want people to get out of my music is, be open minded! Hip Hop is not just about the stereotypical hoes, money, cars and clothes. It’s way more to that and I am the evolution of hip hop .. I’m just trying to make it better rather than worse.

Words of wisdom for the readers?
Words of wisdom would be just be yourself, stay true to you and who you are. Originality is a must, that’s how we all stand out from the rest. 😉

Any artists or team members you want to shout out?
I would like to shout out you of course for giving me this opportunity to even let my voice be heard! Xoxo lol. My family, Mom and Dad, my publicist Sakeena Rock, love you lol. Raymond Starks is a HUGE impact [in] everything I do, thank you. All the artist and producers [I’ve] worked with and plan to work with, thank you! Let’s take this thing called Hip Hop Over!
