With an album that boasts features from Wu-Tang Clan and an outspoken, deeply rooted début single in Synesthesia, Chuckie Campbell of Buffalo, NY has hit the ground running and is going full speed ahead. Slated for release 12/21, More Die of Heartbreak (produced by Willie Breeding) is described as intensely dark and emotional, and I’d have to agree. The amount of depth shown in his songs is uncanny. Nowadays, you’ll be lucky to hear hip hop lyrics that have such strong ties to the artists’ feelings & the world surrounding them. Campbell has gained respect and admiration from fan and the media, recently receiving the Esente Center Stage Emerging Artist of the Week & regarded as “super-lyrical” with words “that thrust” the listener “in the middle of the scenario,” praising the rapper for his “intricate wordplay” and “incredibly fast flow” by writer Peter Amara. I’d highly recommend this album to anyone who is a fan of conscious hip hop. The single, Synesthesia, focuses on the world as he sees it and how everyone should view it, in black & white; the colors of the world are only perceived the way we learn it. Deus Ex Machina focuses on the event that brought this album to fruition. Campbell gives us his synopsis on his upcoming release.
More Die of Heartbreak, borrowing its title from nobel prize-winning author Saul Bellow’s novel of the same name, is an experimental hip hop project written by myself and produced entirely by Willie Breeding of the country/rock duo The Breedings out of Nashville, TN. In addition to my own contribution, the album features highly notable guest appearances from members of the Wu Tang Clan, Cappadonna and Solomon Childs, Cole Jonique of Tate Music Group, Erin Breeding of The Breedings, as well as rapper and producer for Disturbia Music Group, Block McCloud. The album draws on the seven years after a violent physical assault that left my jaw broken in two places, an event that would affect nearly every other human relationship that took place afterward. The album is dedicated to Ralph B. Prater, my close friend, music mentor, and unlawful attacker, who committed suicide in March of 2011. It is a reminder that for every one person who makes it out alive, more will die of heartbreak.
